Fuenmayor with a cloudburst, La Rioja, Spain

Another hot day with very little activity. We did squeeze in some serious planning of our route home and booked a couple of campsites plus T did some washing this time.

Early evening we manage to get on our bikes and cycle the 1.5miles into Fuenmayor. It’s quiet in the main square Plaza des Tresses. A short visit to Santa Maria Church followed by a beer overlooking the fountain, a shrine to grapes and local Bodegas. A little wander into the town and another beer whilst T catches the end of the football on TV. Germany thrash Curaçao 7:1. By now the bars are busy with many Spaniards, young and old, enjoying the last of the weekend.

Back on our bikes we get caught in a cloudburst (as called by Maisie, Tony’s mum) so have to wait it out for five minutes as it passes, under a roof of a nearby bodega. We get wet but not drenched.

Dinner outside the van to end the day.

A chilled day with a bit of cycling and exploring on the side.
