A lovely drive east today to Fuenmayor in the Rioja region of Spain. We stop in Belorado for petrol and some shopping in an old fashioned looking supermarket with a greengrocer and butcher’s section.

This road runs alongside The Camino de Santiago so we pass many pilgrims walking towards Belorado in the scorching heat with zero shade. Definitely not on my bucket list.

We are staying at Camping Fuenmayor which has a small section for tourers but it’s mainly permanent holiday homes. The setups vary considerably but most consist of a huge permanent awning covering a caravan and an awning tent with some outside space. Based on the temperature it’s understandable that they are all about the shade. There’s a bar and a pool too.

It’s Saturday so quite busy in both sections. We find a shady spot and then I do some washing in an actual washing machine rather than a sink. It’s the small things…

We sit outside all day and evening doing not very much at all.

A hot sweaty lazy day.
