We leave a cloudy France and eventually cross over into an equally cloudy Spain. It’s a lot cooler now though which is good. We head south and west to San Sebastián which is just over the border on Spain’s northern coast, in Basque country.

I’ve found a campsite on the outskirts of the city on top of a hill on a bus route. It’s a bit of a faff when we arrive as the pitch is way too small for the van and made worse by a tree stuck in the middle of it. However there’s another area near the car park which is much more suitable so after a bit of back and forth we’re sorted. After a late lunch I fall asleep for a two hour nap which is very unusual.

The weather is now damp and misty almost like we are sitting in a cloud. For a nano second we consider getting the bus down to the city but instead have a quiet night in.

Day two in the city brings better weather. Early afternoon we take the thirty minute bus ride into the centre and walk along the promenade to the marina enjoying the amazing sand paintings before they are washed away by the tide.

The streets in the old part of town are thronged with people drinking and eating pintxos and generally relaxing enjoying a warm Saturday afternoon.

After a wander around we find ourselves a pintxo bar and enjoy some amazing food!

Our next stop is watching the world go by in Constitution Square wondering why the hens dress the brides to be in inflatable Unicorn and Bald Eagle outfits! Luckily it’s just a warm 20c not the high temps of the last week.

Onto a couple of bars where we watch Arsenal eventually lose to PSG on penalties before taking the bus back to the campsite after far too many beers.

A fun day in city with amazing pintxos!
