Interlaken, Thunersee and Thun

It’s a lot greyer and cooler today so we decide on a boat trip to Thun. The boat leaves from near Interlaken Ouest station so it’s only a short walk down to the pier.

It’s just over two very enjoyable hours of wandering back and forth across the lake pulling into multiple lakeside stops enjoying the alpine views and moving in and out of the rather well appointed cabin. Lots of people leave and join at the various stops but everyone gets a seat somewhere on the boat.

We land in Thun and enjoy a walking tour led by Jacky visiting the castle, a church with a interesting bell tower that we could partially climb and then down to old town. The river has a number of covered wooden bridges crossing it, some acting as wiers with flood control gates.

We watch a surfer using the waves created by the weir to surf back and forth until he eventually misses one and falls off his board……and then he does it again!

Beer and nachos in a local bar followed by another beer outside the train station before we head back to Interlaken. Chicken, potato and salad for dinner back at the flat. Another good day in Switzerland.
