The journey from Bentley to Martlesham is short but we manage to extend it and make it stressful by going via Ipswich whilst trying to find Sainsbury’s. We end up in narrow lanes with difficult turns so made our escape without success! However I manage to find an Aldi almost on our route and we could park…across about four parking spots.
It’s now raining heavily but it’s a very short hop to the campsite. We’ve booked in here as it was the closest campsite to Sutton Hoo with availability. It’s always more difficult to find a pitch over the weekend.

Originally we planned on visiting Sutton Hoo on Saturday. We booked this campsite in advance for Friday & Saturday but didn’t think to book NT tickets for Sutton Hoo. When I thought to check on Thursday the whole weekend was fully booked up until Monday! I happened to wake up at 5:30am this morning and Monday slots had just been made available but we would have had to rearrange our plans. I then rechecked the weekend tickets and by chance there was one Sunday morning slot available so happily booked that. It’s the first one of the day so we might have to set an alarm but phew, T was very happy.

It’s still raining cats and dogs so we get a bit damp setting up. Lunch is hiding in the van out of the rain. In fact we don’t move all day as it’s just so wet. Dinner is moules for T and fishcake for me watching one of the hobbit movies and Celebrity Gogglebox.
