Moving ever northward we leave Yvré-l’Évêque and drive towards Caen. Our first stop is E.Leclerc for some food and gift shopping. We desperately needed ice too but it was all sold out. Travelling in the van is OK even in 40 degree heat as we have the vehicle aircon blasting away. I’ve been dithering about where to stay in Caen but stupidly hadn’t booked so the first campsite we try is completely full. We were hoping to stay in one place for three days but that’s unlikely now. At least they gave us another site to try, Camping Canadian Scottish which overlooks Plage de Graye-sur-Mer aka Juno Beach.

Thankfully it’s busy but not full but not a tree in sight. We also managed to pick up ice locally too so a double thumbs up.

We eat a salad and then wander out to the beach. It’s lovely yellow sand with a side of seaweed and is very busy. Lots of people swimming and sunbathing and picnicking.

We enjoy a cold beer in the onsite bar before heading back to the van for more homework on where to move to tomorrow.

Spring rolls for dinner and football. Thankfully it’s cooled considerably here and by midnight there’s even a bit of chill in the air.

A frustrating hot day that ended well, apart from the football result of course.
