We are continuing to move upwards through France now with Caen our eventual destination by the 26th. Enjoy a morning visit from some Canadian geese. Pass Château de Rochechouart but don’t stop.
Château de Rochechouart
Originally we were aiming for Limoges but I couldn’t find a suitable overnight stop so we’ve landed on Saint-Junien which has a shaded municipal camping car which is close to the town about 30km west of Limoges.
We arrive early afternoon and settle in. The site is wonderfully shaded which is a relief in these high temps.
Around six p.m. we walk into the town. There’s not much to see other than a Romanesque style church built in granite. We went in but mass was on in the side chapel so we made a hasty retreat.
We enjoy a beer in a shaded square opposite the church. The town is very quiet with most places closed. Not at all what we expected on a Friday evening.
On the way back we find an open restaurant Le Boeuf Rouge. T enjoys a cider and I quaff a Kir Royale. We are given an amuse bouche and a tiny starter each whilst we wait for our main course which is all we ordered. A very nice touch and the food is very good.
Back to the van through streets with most houses shuttered up either because they are holiday homes or to keep out the heat as the temps are in the high 30’s. It’s hard to tell.
An uneventful day.

It was right in the middle of mass! There’s us talking and me talking photos lol. And a cold beer was calling obviously 😉
