We leave our spot by the King Sedgemoor Drain with our neighbour fishing in the sunshine with a parrot on his shoulder. A most unusual sight.

Our first stop is just up the road at Barrow Mump. It’s a 79ft hill rising above the Somerset Levels with fantastic views all around. We clamber up the steep hill to the pretty ruined church on the top trying to avoid the sheep poo which is abundant. They obviously enjoy sheltering from the wind behind the walls. Three rivers converge here on the Levels, one called the River Tone and the surrounding fields are flooded regularly.

Onto Exmoor via the very steep and narrow B3224 road. A road closure near our campsite causes us to take a major diversion, ten extra miles and thirty extra minutes.

Halse Farm and Campsite is on top of a hill inside Exmoor National Park surrounded by green hills and trees with lovely views.

We enjoy lunch outside and a relaxing afternoon and evening on beautiful Exmoor.
