Bolton-le-Sands and Nala

Off again today on a short trip to Bay View Campsite in Bolton-le-Sands for a three night stay with our grandog Nala. This is a first for us.

On the road

It’s only an hour north so we land early afternoon. It’s a pretty site with distant views of Morecambe Bay. It’s very quiet with only a handful of tourers and lots of empty statics and seasonal caravans.

After lunch outside we decide to walk to the coast and take Nala for a run around.

There’s a footpath onsite that leads us towards the bay. The route to the beach is across marshland so there’s lots of warnings about tides and deep channels. We stay on the path mostly but have to cross the marshland at the end to make it to the beach and sea. The tide is coming in fast. It’s a lovely spot with only a few fellow dog walkers out and about.  It’s windy and a bit chilly but lovely too.

We wander back and decide to take a detour to the Royal Hotel for a drink. It’s very dog friendly and there are lots of other dogs enjoying a water whilst their owners have a pint.

The hotel backs onto the Lancaster Canal and we can walk along it back to the campsite. It’s peaceful and pretty and much better than walking along the road.

A beautiful sunset as we walk down through the campsite back to the van.

Chicken, salad and potatoes for dinner with a glass of wine watching reruns of Gogglebox. A good start to our grandog trip and a very tired Nala.
