Adventuring again, starting in Northumberland at Haltwhistle

Excited to start writing my blog again. Lockdown is easing so we can escape in our Motorhome for the first time since last October.

We didn’t book our trip very far in advance so everywhere is so busy especially at the weekend. Tony manages to find three sites we can stay at over 9 nights and the weather forecast is looking good at the moment!

Our first stop is Haltwhistle, a small rural site close to Hadrian’s Wall. It’s 2.5hrs drive and we arrive late afternoon as I had an emergency visit to the dentist in the morning.

Unusually it’s a very easy drive all the way with no stops or holdups. One of the few pandemic silver linings. The site is busy but lovely and rural, circled by trees and bordered on one side by the South Tyne River.

We set up and wander around the site, check out the local information and maps. Slightly disappointed to hear that the local pub which is only a mile away, isn’t opening until Friday, the day we leave.

Enjoy a quiet night in, the highlight of which is watching the start of the new series of The Sewing Bee plus a little star gazing. The skies are midnight blue, the temperature is low and the stars are twinkling.
