Hoge Veluwe Park and the Kroll-Muller museum

Sun is shining on us again on our second day in the park. After a late breakfast we get back on our bikes and try a different route which eventually takes up to the sand dune area of the park. It’s lot of fun this morning, with marshland, forest, ancient trees and open scrub. Eventually we arrive at what could be desert, very strange to see this far north.

Stop for a picnic just before we reach the Kroll-Muller museum. It’s been open since 1938 and is full of modern art with a large collection of Van Gogh as well as paintings by Money, Picasso, Manet and Seurat amongst others. My favourites were by Van Gogh, Henri Fantin-Latour, Jongkind, Van Rysselberge and Seurat.

After a cuppa we wandered around the sculpture garden. I particularly enjoyed the Barbara Hepworth sculptures.

After our 2hr visit we then cycled back to our campsite. 11.5 miles in total today. Did our BBQ thing again which was tasty and supped fizz and red wine to finish our day.
