Skye, Ben Nevis and Fort William

We leave Skye this morning. It’s looking very atmospheric and broody,  living up to its name, Cloud Island, with the tops of  the Cuillin mountains covered in white cloud.

Take the road towards Fort William and pass the famous Eilean Donan castle before we realise. The car park is rammed so we move on.IMG_20190426_170757-886x471.jpg

Use the windscreen wipers for the first time in 2.5 weeks in Scotland! Weather has been fantastic really.  After a short roadside stop for lunch we stop at the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge. The tribute garden is very moving, honouring soldiers who served or lost their lives in WWII and more recent conflicts. Great views of snow covered and misty Nevis range including Ben Nevis. https://bennevis.co.uk

Pass through Fort William, which stands on the shores of Loch Linnhe without stopping. Very reminiscent of places like Ambleside in the Lakes.

Stop for the evening at Bunree caravan park, 10 miles south of Fort William on the shores of Loch Linnhe.
