Kirkcudbright – Scottish Art Town

Our first visit of the day is to Broughton House and Gardens. It’s a shrine to E. A Hornel, one of the Glasgow boys, an artist and leading light in the Arts in Kirkcudbright. His Japanese inspired paintings are lovely but the garden is the highlight, literally stuffed with plants and flowers.

Our next stop is the very new Kircudbright Galleries housed in the old town hall. Opened earlier this year it’s full of fine Scottish art as well as a great cafe where we enjoy tea and cake.

End our day with a short pubcrawl and takeaways.
