Up and out late morning for run 2 of week 1 of the couch to 5k. Goes OK. After brunch we get organised and get on our bikes again. We cycle south to the other side of the island to La Noue. It’s not a tourist destination with one bistro and a rocky beach, Plage de Montamer.

Onto Saint-Marie-del-Ré and a visit to the rather beautiful church Notre Dame de L’Assomption. The stained glass windows are unusually depicting the stations of the cross. We enjoy a chilled beer before continuing to Rivedoux-Plage for a great view of the bridge and the many oyster beds.

Intending to quaff a second beer we are disappointed that we can’t find anywhere open so we get our sweaty selves back on the bikes for the 4.5km ride back to La Flotte and that beer.

Around 7pm we wander back into the village and enjoy a lovely meal at La Croisette. It’s still warm at 9pm which is such a treat.

A final beer on the promenade watching the sun go down before heading back to the van.

A lovely day discovering more of Ile de Ré in the sunshine.
