La Flotte & Saint-Martin-De-Ré, Ile de Ré

A slow start after a much needed good night’s sleep and then out of bed to attempt day 1, week 1 of the Couch to 5K program. It’s an attempt to keep my fitness levels up whilst away. It’s hard and sweaty going but I manage it with T’s and Jo Whiley’s encouragement. Too busy huffing to remember to take a photo though.

A lovely brunch of pancakes, bacon and maple syrup is followed by a lukewarm shower with a very irritating seven second button push. One of the joys of campsite living. Sometimes I think the people who design the facilities never use them as more often than not the cubicles are too small and there are never enough hooks or a shelf for shower gel etc!

Early afternoon we get on our bikes to ride to Saint-Martin-de-Ré stopping at Decathlon to pick up a few bits I’d forgotten and a phone holder for my bike.

It’s a gorgeous sunny day as we wander to the lighthouse and around the marina before enjoying a drink and something to eat. T loves his moules et frites but my fish is tasteless and overcooked.

Dessert of an ice cream cone does not disappoint though.

Marrakesh surprise and Caramel fleur de sel

Back on our bikes for the short ride to La Flotte and a drink in the evening sunshine. It’s considerably warmer than yesterday which is good.

We watch a pretty awful movie on Netflix whilst I do some blogging and find a campsite to move to on Saturday.

A holiday kind of a day.
