Calais, France to Henley-In-Arden, England

Up handy to catch a ferry from Calais to Dover. We arrive 2.5hrs before departure time and it takes almost 1.5hrs to get through customs and two border controls. UK border control takes an hour for a relatively short queue.

The journey north is OK. We stop at a park and ride in Bicester and have a cuppa and sandwich as it’s now late afternoon and we are hungry. Bicester looks like it’s going to be rammed so we move onto Warwick and try a couple of places but for one we are too long and the second is a Tesco car park. I find a pub that is happy to let us park up. It’s the Navigation Inn in Henley-In-Ardern just next to the Stratford and Avon canal. We arrive at 5:30pm only just in time for a roast dinner. T enjoys his first pint of bitter in many weeks and we enjoy sitting in the beer garden with the wasps.

A travelling and ready to be home day.
