After a couple of mad days at home getting the van ready and packed and at the same time doing some much needed house cleaning, we are ready to roll.

We leave early afternoon and have a long drive to Harwich for an overnight ferry. It’s a hellish journey of rain, delays and many lorries. We get there eventually with no stops.

Loading of the ferry takes a while so it’s about 10pm by the time we have checked out our cabin and hunted down food and a drink. Manage to have a beer while waiting.

Cabin is much nicer than any we’ve stayed in before with comfortable bunk beds and a modern bathroom.

We devour a rather delicious pepperoni pizza between us and feel much better for it.

Next stop is Hoek Van Holland to begin our journey across northern Europe towards Scandinavia.
