Carentan-les-Marais

Tipping it down today so a quiet morning and afternoon fueled by a very late brunch. The wind was buffeting the awning a bit too much so T had to roll it back in and put all our gear away. We really need to buy awning straps.

Eventually it’s stops and we can get out to the shower block. The campsite we are staying on is an unusual mix of cabins, tent sites and pitches, some with their own kitchens and ensuites. There’s a covered swimming pool which we don’t visit.

We walk into and around the town which is much bigger than we though and has bunting everywhere. We wander around Notre Dame church looking for a way in but it’s locked.

The cemetery is on the other side of town. It’s an interesting visit as we find some very unusual graves.

Back into the centre a lot of the shop fronts are decorated for the 80th anniversary year of D-Day landings and we see lots of American flags.

We quaff a half of Jupiler in the station bar before wandering back to the marina. It has what we think is a boat lift that can lift up to 5000kg.

Dinner in The Vintage bar before we walk back to the van and watch the end of Marcella. Glad it’s finished as the third series definitely lost its way. Buying a local SIM card is definitely the way to go.  Our mobiles have no signal here but the Reglo SIM works well.

A quiet day.
