Absolutely gorgeous day to wake up to this morning. Blue skies and sunshine.

As we’ve run out of bacon and sausage it’s poached eggs on toast done just right, a la T.

After Elijah’s naptime we leave early afternoon and drive up Winnats Pass, a limestone gorge with a steep and narrow road, to Mam Nick carpark which gives us access to Mam Tor and The Great Ridge path.

We find a shady spot to park in the NT carpark and start our journey to the top. It’s a paved and stepped steep path but not too far to the top, about half a mile. Rach carries Elijah up in a baby carrier strapped to her front so definitely feels the burn. Glorious views to Edale and across Hope valley and well worth the effort.

A sit in the sunshine taking in the Peak District at it’s best and a few photos from the summit.

It’s easier going back down and after an emergency nappy change in the car we drive to Castleton for a pint and a share of a fab pizza at The George. Elijah kindly naps through this, obviously worn out by his hill walking adventure.

Back at the van it’s playtime for Elijah. After Rach gets Elijah down we enjoy a BBQ sitting outside which is lovely. The end of a lovely little holiday with our wonderful grandson and Rach and Paul. Next time we need a smaller travel cot and less stuff lol.

A wonderful day to end our trip.

Home this morning. Rach and Elijah leave at 11am just in time for his nap and we get away an hour later. Due to the bridge closure which caused us delays on our way here, we go home via Glossop and the Snake Pass. Absolutely glorious views of the Peak District. We must return.
