Our last day in Stromness is a quieter, domestic one involving laundry and shopping. We also visit Stromness museum which is packed to the gills with Orkney and Stromness history of many varieties:- herring fishing, natural history, explorers such as John Rae, Scapa Flow and the scuttling of the German WWI fleet, whaling, and visit of Captain Cook to name a few.

We take a different ferry back to the mainland and it’s passes by the Old Man of Hoy so we brave the mad winds on deck to take some photos.

From Scrabster we drive to Dunnet Bay campsite, enjoy a ding meal for dinner, a gorgeous sunset and a night in.
