After breakfast we walk to Beverley train station to catch a train to Hull.

It’s only a 15 minutes journey. There’s a tourist info spot just outside so we get a map and wander in. First stop is Queen Victoria queening it over public toilets.

The gorgeous Art Deco Burton building behind us has recently been restored after standing empty for years.

On towards the River Humber and estuary we cross over the Princes Quay footbridge to the marina. A cormorant is drying its wings putting on a show. The tide is out as we walk along the prom.

We enjoy a drink in a very nice pub called The Minerva before wandering back into the city towards the Minster. We pass the famous Fruit Market which is basically party street after dark but all is quiet now.

The Hull tidal surge barrier, a huge contraption that stops Hull from flooding on the regular is at the end of the River Hull where it meets the Humber.

Next stop is a visit to the museum quarter. We pop into the Hull and East Riding museum for woolly mammoths and Roman mosaics, the Streetlife museum for times past in transport and retail and finally Wilberforce House on slavery and abolition.

Walking towards the Minster we pop into an indoor market that’s been repurposed into a food hub and enjoy a sandwich and a cuppa.
It’s graduation day at the Minster but luckily we’ve timed it just as the ceremony is finishing so we get to wander around.

We spend a while looking for a decent pub but don’t have much success. After a swift half in The Masters we take the train back to Masham. It’s tipping down once we arrive. We have a half in the nearest pub The Queen’s Head before moving to the Monks Walk and finally The Sun Inn which had an open mike night on. Eventually we walk back to the van for food and a rewatch of The Martian which we nod off to.

Another good day in Yorkshire and 18.5k steps.
