We’ve decided to take the ferry from Calais so we are heading further west towards the French coast. The plan was to stop at a beach resort first but as it’s Friday and a holiday weekend in France with Bastille Day on Monday, it’s a struggle to find a campsite. I have to look away from the coast and eventually get a spot in Camping Les Epinettes in Peuplingues twenty minutes away from the ferry.

Our journey is horrible. It’s supposed to be four hours but traffic around Antwerp is a nightmare due to various roadworks so it’s turns into a five and a half. We drive into Belgium and on into France without really noticing.

It’s sunny when we land so that’s a bonus. Chicken salad for dinner as it’s quick and we are starving.

A happy to arrive but didn’t enjoy the journey kind of day
