We are leaving Germany today and heading further west into the Netherlands. I’ve found a park up in Halmond. We have to pay €3.90 to park overnight but it’s impossible. The screen is very difficult to read and when we get past that it doesn’t like our cards. T rings up and is told to pay at a nearby car park. That’s only a short stay and wants €14 and we would have to return at 8am tomorrow to pay again! Anyway the parking guy lets us off, asks for our reg and says he’ll sort it. By this time after a quick lunch in the van we’ve decided that maybe Helmond is too city for us so we drive to Gemert our back up spot twenty minutes away. Life on the road.

The first park up in Gemert is small and rammed and for the second one the satnav has us going in circles through the narrow streets of Gemert so we decide to try the campsite instead.

They have a spot so we’re sorted. The site is busy with a mix of seasonal and mobile campers. It’s green and surrounded by trees and feels pleasantly rural with new and modern facilities. We take a few chill moments before heading out to explore.

We pass a huge church on the way in with a graveyard where the graves are set in what looks like dirty sand which is most unusual.

Gemert town centre and its bars and restaurants are busy. We bag a table sitting outside Buskens Gastrobar and enjoy dinner and a couple of drinks.

A final beer outside the van to end the day on a cheerful note.
