Rheda-Wiedenbrück Germany

Heading in the direction of the Netherlands our hop today is west as far as the city of Rheda-Widenbrück in North Rhine-Westphalia Germany. It has a castle which is always a pull for T.

Arriving at lunchtime we park up in a car park with a designated motorhome area. There’s lots of vans here already but room for a few more.

After crusty bread rolls we wander into a forest towards Rheda Castle. It’s not open today but you can visit the surrounding gardens for free and pay €5 to go inside the church which T does. It doesn’t look enticing to me so I give it a miss and wait outside with the mossies.

There’s a spectacular weeping willow tree in the grounds.

Onto the old town with its half-timbered houses dating from the 15th to 18th century with lots of quirky doors.

A beer in the sunshine and then we head back to the van for snacks, more beer and eventually enchiladas sitting outside on a car park. Living the high life lol.

A good travelling day.
