Viborg

It’s a short hop from our lakeside spot in Ans to Viborg. We stop at Lidl and fill our empty fridge and manage to get a parking ticket at the same time. Who knew we had to set our arrival time on a parking disk in a Lidl car park. Very annoying.

Onto our free overnight park up in the centre of the town once we can get the satnav straightened out.

Max 24hrs free – take your rubbish with you

A mid afternoon sandwich before heading towards Viborg Cathedral via a beautiful cemetery.

The inside of the cathedral is just so unusual and lovely. Paintings are everywhere on the ceilings, walls and archways. It’s vibrant, colourful and wonderful. We wander around inside and out until a free organ recital starts at 4pm which we enjoy.

Through some lovely gardens, we walk around Viborg enjoying the summer street decorations and follow the sound of music to a square hosting a free jazz and blues band. It’s a festival that plays out on Fridays over many months. A pint of beer goes down well whilst listening in the rain.

Into a shopping mall to hide from said rain before finding another bar where we can sit outside under huge umbrellas with heaters and quaff a second beer with free popcorn.

Back to the van picking up food on the way. All six motorhome spots are taken now. We watch the final episodes of Game of Thrones. Daenerys is dead and Jon Snow exiled north. The guy can’t catch a break.

A musical day.
