Up before 6am to catch a ferry to Grenaa in Denmark. We enjoy tea and toast in the queue and don’t quite finish it before boarding the ferry so I’m holding two cups as we board. Four and a half hours later and we arrive.

We drive to Aarhus, Denmark’s second largest city. It is a mess of roadworks and traffic delays so we spend over two hours moving around from one site on a marina which is full to a second which is a basically on derelict land and then realise we have to move again to find a petrol station to get a parking disk. After a very late bite to eat bought in the petrol station we realise the cathedral and the Old Town museum are both closed. Tired and tetchy we move on.

It’s not that easy to find somewhere to stop as we drive towards Viborg our next destination but we find a forest park up at Ans on the southern end of Tange Lake just after 5pm. It’s been a testing day.

A walk along the lake helps followed by a bit of telly.

One of those days.
