We spent some time yesterday considering visiting Oslo but in the end we couldn’t find anywhere suitable to park up and train in from so we gave up on the idea. City’s normally aren’t our bag anyway so it’s not a big issue.
Instead we are driving today across the border into Sweden to a campsite recommended by some Brit’s we met. That’s a rare occurrence out here as most motorhomers are German, Dutch, Swedish or Norwegian. The site is in Årjäng which is twenty miles across the border.

It’s a boring drive, made longer as we get stuck in traffic outside Oslo due to roadworks and very long traffic delays. Getting around Oslo through a complicated tunnel and road system is a bit hair raising but we manage. We listen to a few trivia quizzes on Spotify to keep us entertained.

It’s just before 5pm when we land at Årjäng Camping & Stugor Sommarvik. We have a nice spot overlooking Lake Västra Silen part of a network of interconnected lakes accessible via locks. However we are too close to the swimming pool currently full of screaming kids. The site is full though so we have to grin and bear it. It’s sunny and windy outside but warm enough to enjoy a cuppa and some cake.

There’s a restaurant onsite and a turn on, so we book a table for 8pm. T orders large beers and they come in 750ml glasses! That’s one and a half pints at 130 Swedish Kronor so £9.99 each! Luckily they taste good.

The food is a buffet which is ok and there’s a lively crowd singing away so it’s an entertaining evening.

A fun ending to a tough driving day.
