Tännforsen then onto Levanger Norway

We leave our lovely sunset spot in Rätan and continue our drive northward. We are heading to Tännforsen the largest waterfall in Sweden.

Alongside the road we catch a glimpse of a couple of midsummer celebrations and a large maypole in the distance but that’s as close as we come.

The area starts looking more mountainous and we see snow for the first time.

We travel through Åre which is a huge ski resort and catch sight of a chair lift over the road that is running. We’ve actually heard of Åre before as we enjoyed watching The Åre Murders drama on Netflix.

Tännforsen falls are amazing. We walk the loop to the top and around to the bottom of the falls and are wowed by the noise and volume of water. It’s exhilarating standing on a platform watching the churn and spray.

Originally we were going to overnight at the falls but changed our minds and drove another hour and half across the border to Norway. It’s pretty desolate up here.

On the road after the falls T spots a moose in a clearing!! We backtrack as the road is empty but it’s gone. No photo just a memory.

There are no customs check as we cross the border into Norway and no police presence. The scenery seems to change straight away, it seems more rugged and rocky. We stop at a view point and take photos of a pretty fjord.

Onto Lavanger which is a port and we grab a spot on the marina overlooking the ferry dock. It’s the last pitch with a view. It’s busy with motorhomes and lorries parked up for the night. It rains and rains but we eventually manage to escape the van for some photos at 11pm.

A moose and waterfall day!
