Sunset at Rätan

We leave Sollerön island and head north again and west. First stop is Mora at the top of Lake Siljan for a supermarket and off-licence stop as we need wine and fizz supplies. It’s busy and cramped so we move on and find what we need in Orsa just down the road. Expensive but we think cheaper than Norway.

A quick stop for lunch in a place we thought was a park up just off the E45 but it was actually a small paying campsite. We stayed, ate and then left.

We arrive at Rätan in the afternoon and are staying overnight at a waterside forested spot again just off the E45. There’s one van here already but plenty of room. It’s windy and cold and the lake looks almost tidal lapping its edges.

T goes for a wander and like the hunter gatherer he is comes back with jars of potatoes. We’ve been looking for tins of them in the supermarket for a while as they are useful when we’re not hooked up as we can cook them without using much gas so result!

Another van arrives with a Swiss couple in it nearing the end of their Scandinavian adventure.

Cheese and onion on toast for dinner watching a new Scandi detective series Deadwind.

We pop out at 10:25 and again at 10:50pm to see a glorious sunset and a sky awash with colour. What an unexpected delight that makes the day.

A best sunset so far kind of day.
