Sollerön Island

An overcast day today on Sollerön. We’ve decided to try a circular cycle route off and then back onto the island. It’s supposed to be easy and around 14 miles.

The plan – yellow route

Well it’s not quite. We miss the cycle path and end up cycling 6.5 miles mostly uphill on roads without a cycle lane. Luckily not much traffic. Then 0.5 mile on the single lane E45 with lots of traffic and lorries and also no cycle lane! There’s another 5 miles which is pleasant enough through villages and forest before we’re back on the road again but this time we have a cycle lane. The final mile was hellish and hard going through a muddy and rocky forest track. So definitely not up there in my favourites. It was 17 miles too! Lots of lovely lupine of course.

In one of the villages I took a photo of the post boxes. You see small groups of post boxes everywhere. Must make the posties job a little easier.

Back to the van and eventually we enjoy chicken stroganoff with rice watching the end of the excellent Dept. Q on Netflix and a bit more of Season four of Game of Thrones. It’s just as hard to watch the Mountain crush Oberyn Martell second time around.

Beautiful clouds

A cycling day not to be repeated.
