Kyrkviksbadet, Grändesberg

We have a stressful start getting out of our campsite but with a bit of help from the owner we are on our way.

Another easy 2.5 hour drive north again along forested roads with purple and the occasional pink lupin flowers literally blooming everywhere. I read up on them and they’re considered an invasive species imported from North America but they look do so pretty.

That’s Sweden for us so far. Forest, lakes, lupins, red and yellow wooden houses and empty roads. It’s all just so wonderfully green.

Oh and of course speed cameras that are literally everywhere even in the middle of nowhere! Our satnav talks to us a lot….

All seeing eye

We are staying one night on a car park overlooking a beach and a lake called Norra Hörken. It’s Sunday so I was worried about getting a spot but the car park is huge.

Lots of families enjoying the beach and the sunshine with children swimming and paddling in the freezing water.

A lovely lunch sitting on a bench on the beach and a chance to relax and read and watch the world go by.

Later on the weather turns cloudy and cooler so we return to the van and scoff Swedish meatballs for dinner.

After dinner we wander down again and walk along the jetty.

Eventually all the cars leave and there’s just two vans in this gorgeous quiet spot.

Another lovely day.

  1. Please answer the burning question… are Swedish meatballs in Sweden better than IKEA’s? Or can nothing beat the good old faithful?
