We are so happy to wake to sunshine today and celebrate by getting the bikes down for the first time.
We take the ferry across Lake Vättern to Visingsö island. It’s a thirty minute crossing and it’s busy with cars and other cyclists. I have a problem with my bike as soon as we land. There’s an error message and no power. Mini crisis… With a bit of you tubing by me and tinkering and cleaning by T he managed to get it going. Google thinks the speed sensor on the crank was dirty. Anyway success!

The route was a loop from the ferry to the southern end of the island. We visit Churches, enjoy our butties at Näs Castle built as a royal residence in the 12th century but now in ruins and stop for coffee and cake at a cafe. There are crops planted everywhere right up to the edge of gardens. The houses and gardens are beautiful and we see lots of robot lawnmowers working away. It’s a lovely island.

It’s a gorgeous day. Our route takes us on roads and down forest tracks and we hardly see any cars and only a few other bikes. Twelve miles by the end of our ride and I am knackered as it’s been ages since I cycled, but we both really enjoy ourselves. Plenty of google lens work as we travel translating the map and signs and information. It’s been invaluable on this trip.

Literally finish our tour and cycle straight back on the ferry as it’s about to leave. It’s lovely to sit outside the van in the sunshine with a cold beer and we get to eat our dinner outside too. More washing done and eventually back in the van to see more of GOT. The weather forecast is good so we’ve decided to stay another day to give us a chance to walk into Gränna and enjoy the good weather.

An active and fun day in the sunshine.
