Gränna, Jönköpping

Off again today 100 miles further north to a town on the edge of Lake Vättern, the second largest lake in Sweden.

On the way out of the forest back up to Sandsbro a deer hops over the fence in front of us. Our first wild game.

The road to Gränna is light on traffic and we make good time despite it raining most of the way, arriving around 12:30pm.

Our pitch is just what we signed up for. Less than £30 a night including electricity and showers plus there’s also a free laundry.

Sliver of Lake Vättern in view

Once we’re plugged in we go to the laundry room and suss out when the washing machine is going to be free. Whilst we wait we enjoy lunch. It’s raining again so no adventuring out just yet. It takes most of the afternoon to sort the washing and drying so we rewatch The Intern on Netflix starring Robert de Niro and Anne Hathaway.

After a delicious dinner in the van we get out for a walk to the harbour as the rain has finally stopped. It’s nearly 8pm so almost everything is closed but we do get to see the ferry returning from Visingsö an island 6km west of us. Lake Vättern and its islands and lakeshore towns are a tourist mecca in the summer.

Back to the van for more of GOT.

A mostly damp laundry kind of day.
