Aberdaron

Sun is shining again as we potter about getting ready to depart for Aberdaron around midday. It’s only 35 mins away but we take about 20 minutes extra because I put the wrong campsite in google maps! Obviously it has to be up a very hilly very narrow road with passing places. We eventually find somewhere to turn around and make our way back down the hill into Aberdaron.

Morfa Mawr campsite is also up a steep hill leading out of Aberdaron. It’s a tight squeeze through the village. The site is fabulous, on top of the world, overlooking Aberdaron beach and the village.

We have a lovely pitch right on the coast. After a quick lunch enjoying the views, we walk down into the village. We take the road which isn’t very busy as I don’t fancy the river route.

Towards the bottom is a lovely church and graveyard overlooking the sea and beach.

Another gorgeous day here so we wander along the beach.

The village is small straddling the River Daron, with two pubs, a Spar, a few cafes and gift shops. We buy our first fridge magnet and Christmas dec of the trip.

A cold pint sitting outside The Ship literally in the centre of the village is very welcome. I get chatting to a local and when I mention our campsite she’s says it’s run by her big sister. Small world here obviously.

Next we try the terrace of the second pub the Gwesty Tŷ Newydd across the road. It overhangs the beach with fab views out to sea. We were going to go to the Sblash Fish Bar but decide to stay where we are and share a meal with a side of bread and butter whilst drinking in the view. Delicious.

Back up the hill we discover another entrance to our campsite so we can walk along the coast and miss the last bit of road.

It’s colder now as the sun is setting so we wrap up well to sit outside and watch the sun go down.

The Martian on DVD ends another fab day. Really loving the Llŷn Peninsula.
