Our plan was to stop and visit Harlech Castle which is only twenty minutes from Barmouth but we had some trouble finding the carpark so decided to give it a miss. Lovely scenery again.

An impromptu lunch stop on the promenade at Rhos-on-Sea more than made up for it. We have a bench and a wonderful view and the sun is shining. A lovely spot to enjoy a cuppa and a butty.

Arriving in St Asaph we are due to stop overnight in St Asaph Cathedral carpark but I don’t fancy it. We move two minutes around the corner and stop in The New Inn carpark instead which backs onto the River Elwy.

Around 5pm we wander out planning on a swift half followed by evensong in the cathedral. Another fail as the place is hosting a Christmas fayre. Definitely glad we didn’t stop here in the carpark! We buy a couple of Welsh Christmas decorations and then pop in the Bryn Dinas pub over the road which is full of mostly men in work gear.

Down the hill we stop at the Barrow which is more like a wine bar and very quiet.

Next is the Bengal Village takeaway to pick up a menu before walking to The Plough for a final drink. This is a huge pub restaurant heaving with mostly women all dressed up for Christmas do’s in sequins having a great time.

We phone in an order at the Bengal which T picks up as I pop into the Co-op on the way back to the van. The food is delicious, best indian food we’ve eaten in a long time.
A final drink in the New Inn pub where we are parked, which is busy, before retiring to Luci. The car park is quiet now and a second motorhome has joined us.
A day of foiled plans saved by an impromptu sunshine lunch and a very tasty Indian meal.

Home today via the new Runcorn bridge aka Mersey Gateway Bridge. Lovely coastal views from the A55 as we leave Wales. We’ve been blessed with mostly good weather and really enjoyed our North Wales November adventure.
