Octeville-sur-mer and Étretat

As we missed Étretat on our way down we are going to try and catch it on the way back.

I’ve found a stop in Octeville-sur-mer, basically in someone’s garden where we can overnight and catch the bus to Étretat. First of all however we go shopping in Falaise to refill the fridge and the petrol tank.

The journey takes us back over the Pont de Normandie again and I get better photos this time of this amazing bridge with T’s phone.

Arriving in Octeville-sur-mer mid afternoon we enjoy a late lunch then catch the 4:34 bus to Étretat. The bus stop is only a couple of minutes walk from the site.

Walking into town it’s busy. It’s an archetypal seaside town with lots of touristy shops, bars and restaurants.

It’s grey today with a bracing wind and the sea is wild. We wander along the promenade to the famous cliffs and enjoy some sea air. I don’t think we are catching the resort at it’s best seeing how very popular it is. Monet visited a lot producing some wonderful paintings.

Monet’s version

We stop for a small beer and a snack sitting outside overlooking the sea but behind glass away from the cold wind.

Another wander, a second beer and it’s time to get the 7:25 pm bus back to Octeville-sur-mer, the van and spring rolls for me and samosas for T.

A fun day at the seaside.
