Camping de la Vallée, Gueures

A warm start today which is very welcome. It’s nice to have zero plans other than enjoying the scenery.

It’s so lovely we decide to extend our stay to a third night. These waterside pitches are my favourite so we want to make the most of it.

After a shower I enjoy drying my hair outside. The sun is out so we put up a Heath Robinson sunshade before we eat brunch. The rosti’s we bought are top notch.

The day is spent quietly doing nothing much at all, watching the giant fish which may be carp or tench jumping out of the lake making a huge splash trying to catch their lunch.

Late afternoon we get a bit peckish so enjoy cheese and biscuits with homemade pickled onions a la T and sweet apple from my sister’s garden. Yummy.

Eventually we throw a BBQ together of chicken and salad followed by chocolate peanuts and raisins….

New Dutch neighbours arrive. They are sitting closer to where we think the otters are holed up in the bank. I see the ‘otter’ close up this time and think it may be a water rat. They see the tail and confirm it. Wikipedia says it’s a European water vole. Probably Ratty’s french cousin from Wind in the Willows.

Ratty’s ‘lake bank’

We sit outside and watch the sun go down enjoying the quiet and the view again.

Another lovely day.
