Greencastle & Malin Head

Leaving Castlerock we enjoy a lovely drive to Magilligan Point to catch the Lough Foyle ferry to Greencastle in Eire.

The ferry is small, handles about 16 cars as well as foot passengers and it’s a fifteen minute journey. No border crossing and no passport required.

We drive from Greencastle to the The Seaview Tavern which is only four kilometres from Malin Head. We’re staying on a field next to the pub. There are a few other motorhomes parked up and someone in a tent.

As we’ve run out of a plan again we spend a couple of hours making a new one.

We explore the area along the coast for some fresh air before heading back to get ready to go the pub for dinner.

The restaurant is busy but we’ve booked so no problem getting in. We share a starter and then a platter of seafood which is adventurous for me and heaven for T. Generous portions of mussels, prawns, salmon and 4 crab toes with malt bread and Herby cream cheese and Marie rose sauce. Absolutely delicious. We order chips but really didn’t need them. So full there’s no room for pud.

We watch yet more football and then listen to live music in the bar. The guitarist is in love with The Eagles and Eric Clapton.

Back in the van T falls asleep and I watch a bit of telly.
