Starting our journey back up north towards home today and after much umming and ahing, we have decided on Broadway in Worcestershire sometimes referred to the ‘Jewel of the Cotswolds’.
First we plan to visit a nearby NT place called Snowshill Manor but after arriving wished we hadn’t. The access roads are narrow and winding and some are single track with passing places. The car park is sloping, small and busy and the entrance is tight off the road. I jump out on arrival to check the car park and am thankful I did as there’s no way we are fitting in it. However for the first time we see the advantages of our new lorry satnav which means our time on the narrowest roads is minimised. A very useful Christmas present that T got in a family dip.

Onto Broadway camping and motorhome site which is only 10 minutes away and a shocking and eye watering £89 for two nights, not a jewel though, just a normal campsite. It’s next door to the GWR steam railway and for enthusiasts there are a few pitches literally facing the track. It’s running today so we hear the whistles.
After pitching up we enjoy a late lunch sitting outside in the sunshine followed by some kindle time. It’s the first time it’s been warm enough on this trip so it’s a proper treat.

Early evening we walk into Broadway which is looking lovely in the sunshine with it’s golden stone buildings and wisteria. After walking the length of the village down the High Street we go into the Horse and Hound for a pint to watch the end of the Coventry and Man U semi final. Nail bighting stuff as it goes to penalties.

Back through the village we go to the only other pub called the Crown and Trumpet as otherwise it’s hotels and posh restaurants including a James Martin one.

Starving by this point we enjoy a tasty indian meal in a lovely restaurant, The Broadway Indian, with high ceilings and tables covered in white linen. Food is very good and prices are reasonable.

Back to the van for a bit of telly before bed slightly feeling underwelmed.
