The rain has stopped and the sun’s come out. We are moving further south and west again today heading towards Vezelay but actually staying in a campsite a couple of Km away in Saint-Pere.

It’s a good journey in the sunshine passing lots of fields of sunflowers and vineyard’s along the way. As we land in Saint-Pere we can see Vezelay in the distance at the top of the hill.

We arrive early afternoon and enjoy sitting around in the sunshine for a couple of hours and eating outside.

After showers at the municipal campsite in facilities that are a little rustic, but at €13 a night including electricity who’s complaining, we wander into Saint-Pere to get our bearings, cross over the River Cure and try out the local hotel bar. We are entertained by the farm vehicles transporting huge bales of hay and HGV’s negotiating the narrow roads as well as enjoying a bit of people watching as hotel customers come and go. Next up on the way back we stop for a beer at the local brewery which is now open. The award winning brewery only serves unfiltered beer which is ok but a little too citrus flavoured and and not quite see through enough for my taste buds and eyes!

Back at the campsite we eventually enjoy a BBQ followed by a few trivia quizzes. It’s warm enough to sit outside until dark which makes a lovely change. T is very excited about our top score on the quiz so far this holiday.
