Our latest adventure is interailing! It’s the 50th anniversary this year so we grabbed half price tickets and are planning on three fourteen day trips between now and early July. We are travelling with very old friends from our Alma Mater North Staffs Polytechnic otherwise known as NSP.

Our first rail journey begins in Geneva so we are flying easyJet from Manchester and the southern lot from Gatwick with tiny bags and very little luggage – eek!

Trip 1 starts in Geneva and routes through Switzerland, France, then Spain and finally Portugal over the next two weeks. Let the adventure begin !

On time flight and easy bus journey from the airport to our hotel. We are staying in a six bed dorm room with private facilities. It’s turns out that it’s two singles and two very high bunk beds. Beautifully clean and modern. We draw lots for beds and me and T get first pick, obviously not the bunk beds. T is kind and gives his twin up for Bev’s top bunk. Crampons definitely a requirement getting into and even more challenging getting down from the top bunks!!

Off down to the bar for a beer. We intend to have a couple and then go off to down town Geneva. Obviously that doesn’t happen. It’s absolutely lashing down outside so we end up staying in through happy hour and beyond eating pizza and seeing absolutely nothing of Geneva.
